Kylie Meyer, PhD, MSc, is a social gerontologist whose research focuses on psychoeducational interventions to support family caregivers to persons with chronic and disabling conditions, including Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias. Her interventions address multiple caregiving challenges, including healthy caregiving relationships, confidence with complex care, and caregiver financial wellbeing. In the CONFIDECNE study, co-led by Donna Benton, PhD and funded by AARP Foundation, she collaborates with a community advisory council to develop a culturally-tailored intervention program to reduce out-of-pocket care costs encountered by Latino family caregivers. This research is important given that Latino caregivers spend nearly one-half of their annual income on out-of-pocket care costs, compared to approximately one-quarter among all caregivers. Dr. Meyer completed her master’s-level training at the University of Southampton with support from a U.S. Fulbright, after which she received her doctorate at the University of Southern California Leonard Davis School of Gerontology. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University.
