Dr. Katya Rascovsky is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Neurology, Penn Memory Center and Penn Frontotemporal Degeneration Center at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of California, San Diego and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at the Memory and Aging Center, University of California San Francisco. Her research focuses on the cognitive and behavioral characteristics of syndromes within the frontotemporal degeneration spectrum (FTD) and includes studies of survival and clinical progression of patients with other neurodegenerative disorders.
Dr. Rascovsky is a native Spanish speaker and has broad experience in research and care of Latino dementia patients both in Latin America and the US. As a former Scholar for the Resource Centers for Minority Aging Research (RCMAR), she received formal training in the translation and validation of clinical instruments for use in Spanish-speaking populations. Currently, she directs an initiative to translate, adapt and validate the NIA-funded National Alzheimer Coordinating Center (NACC) clinical and cognitive modules to study dementia in Spanish-speaking Latino populations.
