Jairo E. Martinez, MA

Jairo is a third-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program at Boston University. His primary research interest is to elucidate risk factors for developing neurodegenerative diseases within underrepresented communities. Jairo has a particular interest in examining the relation between lifetime stress, cognition, and blood and brain biomarkers in preclinical Alzheimer’s disease. Jairo is co-mentored by Dr. Yakeel Quiroz of the Massachusetts General Hospital Multicultural Alzheimer’s Prevention Program and Dr. Alice Cronin-Golomb of the Vision and Cognition Lab at Boston University. He has contributed to multiple culturally informed research projects including the Boston Latino Aging Study (BLAST), the Harvard Aging Brain Study (HABS), and the Colombia-Boston Biomarker Study (COLBOS). He has received clinical training at Boston University’s Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders and the Jamaica Plain Veteran Affairs Medical Center. Jairo completed his BA in Neuroscience and Behavior at Columbia University and his MA at Boston University. During his free time, he enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, dancing, and reading.
