Dr. Kat Britt is a T32 Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the NewCourtland Center for Transitions and Health at The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She received her Master of Informatics from The University of Texas at Tyler and her PhD in Nursing from The University of Texas at Austin, where she was selected as a Jonas Psychology/Mental Health Scholar 2021-2023. Her dissertation used the Health and Retirement Study and Aging, Demographics, and Memory Study to examine lifestyle factors (i.e., religious and spiritual activities) associations with symptoms of dementia progression. During her postdoctoral work, she was funded by the Population Aging Research Center (PARC) at The University of Pennsylvania to examine spirituality as a resilience factor in the brain health of aging White and Black adults in the greater Philadelphia area. Dr. Britt was selected as a Butler-Williams Scholar in 2024 and will begin her new position as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at The University of Iowa College of Nursing. Her long-term goal is to create culturally sensitive spiritual interventions to slow cognitive decline and improve quality of life and well-being among marginalized populations living with mild cognitive impairment, dementia and their caregivers.
