Sasha Perez, MPH is a PhD candidate at the University of Utah College of Nursing and serves as the Senior Program Manager for Professional Development and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Research at the Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Sasha’s research focus primarily involves understanding perspectives of carepartners of homebound Hispanic older adults living with serious illnesses and their access to equitable healthcare. Her work also encompasses health services research involving underserved older adults with chronic neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and other older adult populations that experience inequities in healthcare and health outcomes. Sasha has co-authored several publications and presented her findings at national academic conferences.
Active in community service, Sasha is a member of the LEAD Clinical Trial Community Advisory Board, the Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Alliance Latino Community Building Advisory Board, and the Icahn School of Medicine Caregiving Research Policy and Practice Group. Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Hispanic Leaders in Community Engagement Travel Scholarship and the Mount Sinai Health System STAR Award.
