Licet is a first-year behavioral health doctoral student and a licensed social worker. Additionally, she has a master’s in professional studies with a concentration in clinical counseling and a certification as a dementia care provider. Her passion is to provide bilingual education and emotional support to formal and informal caregivers, care partners, and individuals diagnosed with dementia.
Most of Licet’s experience is in the field of dementia care. However, in the last three years, she undertook a new interest in dementia prevention. She aspires to empower individuals to become more brain-health-conscious by encouraging behavioral change. Her goal is to promote the attainment and preservation of brain health through emotional and psychosocial approaches. Although she has worked with various socioeconomic, cultural, and racial groups, most of her work has been done with minority groups.
Licet’s research interests include the effect of psychosocial protective factors in delaying dementia onset, the integration of psychosocial interventions in dementia care, and the use of mobile applications to influence lifestyle modifications to delay the onset of dementia. Most of her publications relate to the social worker’s involvement in dementia care and prevention. In addition to her full-time job, she volunteers providing emotional support for caregivers and research participants.
